Eclair ACL 16mm camera shutter in slow motion
Eclair ACL running at 24fps, shutter filmed at 1500fps, 3200fps, 6400fps. (By narrowing the resolution, the high speed camera can run faster.)

Eclair ACL HD Motor (MIMUL) speed ramp circuit
Просмотров 1042 года назад
This is the motor's speed ramping circuit in action. The base 48KHz signal that gets divided down to drive the stepper motor first goes through an add-on circuit board. That board takes in the 48KHz signal and puts it back out again unchanged... until 1 5V signal is applied to one of its inputs. Then,as shown here, it slashes the frequency, then brings it back up to about half the input frequen...

Cruising to work on the '67 Triumph, turning left on a green arrow, someone tried to avoid the stoplight by cruising through a closed gas station and cutting across the highway...without, you know, looking to see if there was any other traffic. She stopped in time and I would have too because I am expecting crazy stuff like this every moment I am on the chopper.
Pinball factory, Arriflex 16S camera, Kodak 7219 Vision 3 500T film
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.3 года назад
Here I wanted to test out how 500T film would handle the horror-show that is the mixed lighting in the pinball factory I work in - ironically, the one color temperature NOT present is Tungsten! Real fluorescent tubes, LED "fluorescent tubes", daylight from high windows, various colorful LEDs in the games - what a mess. The film handled the color temperatures OK, but any real shooting here would...
Easter 2021with Arriflex 16S camera, 7219 Kodak Vision 3 500T film, Angeneiuex 5.9mm f/1.8 lens

Testing out some home-movie-type shooting, complete with awful lighting setup. Used 500T for the indoors exposure, wanted to see how it would handle the daylight simultaneously coming in through all the windows. (The answer: badly.) The stupid slip-on hood for the Angenieux 5.9 lens was cockeyed when I started and I didn't notice it for a bit. Will need to gaffer-tape that in place for any seri...
Full moon, Arriflex 16S Camera, Kilfitt 600mm lens, Kodak 7203 Vision 3 50D film
Просмотров 3693 года назад
Since the Kilfitt 600mm f/5.6 lens was too long for most terrestrial subjects, I set my sights a little farther away. The rising full moon on April 26, 2021! Early shots were trying to be a little artsy, shooting through trees. That just looked dumb. Most shot at f/8, a couple at f/5.6 just in case I'd calculated the exposure wrong (I hadn't.) Note the moon nearly fills the frame - this lens is...

Testing out a monster Kilfitt 600mm f/5.6 lens. Shot from Promontory Point (about 55th St), looking north towards Chicago - I was too close! Spun around and shot some industrial plants in Gary, and a bit of South Chicago. Hazy morning sunrise through all that distance, so not the best footage, but it let me know just what a beast the lens is.
Ball Bowler Pins Destruction in slo-mo, multiple cameras

Back in 2013 I hauled my high speed 16mm cameras to my brother's house, where he used his giant air cannon to destroy an old parted out ball bowler. This is where he shot the load into the pins. I recorded it on an HD mini cam, a GoPro, a Traid 200V 16mm film camera running at 200fps, and a Photec rotating prism 16mm film camera running at 3200 fps. The 16mm film was Ektachrome, which by then w...

Saying 1990 was the 60th anniversary of pinball is a bit disingenuous for the guy in the video to say. The first pinball machine was in 1931, so there's that. But really, early Pinball machines were not pinball. These were not games of skill for the purpose of entertainment, they were games of chance played for the gambling aspect. It's not the gambling part that makes them not pinball. You can gamble based on any modern pinball machine. It's the game of chance aspect. Unlike Pinball, it is not a game of skill. There is little to no skill involved. Even when the machines had flippers, they so far apart that it was just luck if you could hit the ball using the flipper.

Wow, this is a great snapshot in time. Sinistar is the only hit game here, the rest were flops, unfortunately for Williams. Played Mystic Marathon, Inferno, Bubbles, and Blaster at California Extreme. Never played Turkey Shoot, Splat, Speed Ball, Devastator, or Star Rider. Played Sinistar everywhere else I could find it! Interesting to see the pinball cameos as well. Inferno is built around the Grand Lizard, and Red Hot (from Banzai Run) is one of your motorcycle opponents here in Star Rider as well.
